Waitlist and Buying Process

Q: HOW CAN I BUY A PUPPY?

A: We require prospect buyers to join our waitlist as the first step to buying from us. To find out more information about getting involved on the waitlist, read the next two question and answers.

Q: WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE ON THE WAITLIST?

A: *Please note that being on the waitlist does not guarantee you a puppy but it does guarantee you a chance to secure one ( you can only secure a puppy if you have made a deposit and you can only put a deposit down if you are on the waitlist).

When you are on the waitlist, you will receive updates about the litter. You will be contacted when our dams are in heat, or are pregnant, when the puppies are born, or when we are ready to accept deposits (the most important time: when you can finally secure a puppy). In the case that the puppies are sold out, you can still be contacted if a sale does not go through or be contacted about a future litter.

Q: WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO BE ON THE WAITLIST?

A: All you have to is contact us and provide us the following information:

Your name, phone number, email, and your exact preference (yellow/black, male/female). A few brief sentences explaining why you are getting a puppy (e.g. for hunting, family pet).

Q: WHAT IS YOUR WAITLIST PROCESS LIKE?

A: After you have contacted us about getting on the waitlist and we have confirmed that you are on it, you will receive updates about the litter.

When puppies are 2 weeks old and we are ready to take visits and deposits, you will contacted immediately to make an appointment. You will come to visit and put a deposit ($200 cash) down in the order of where you are on the waitlist. We will not take more deposits than the number of puppies we have. *The deposit does not guarantee that you will get a particular puppy, but it does guarantee you a puppy. An in-person visit is required and we do not accept online payments.

When the puppies are eight weeks old (for the current litter: to be announced), you will visit again in order of where you are on the waiting list. On this second visit, you will choose your puppy and take it home with you. Together, we will assist you in deciding which puppy to choose based on your stated preference and lifestyle along with our observation of the puppies’ temperaments and personalities of the puppies.

The remainder of the total cost will be due on the second visit ($600). The total cost is $800. Price is subject to change.

Q: WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME AS A POTENTIAL BUYER?

A: When we send out updates, please respond promptly to our emails/messages. If you do not respond promptly, you may risk losing your place on the waitlist.

If you find another puppy while you are on the waitlist, be sure to let us know so that we can take you off the waitlist.

Q: What other policies do we have?

A: As of 08/16/2020, there will be a limit of one puppy per family. There are limited puppies born each litter but always a long list of people in line to accommodate. We would like for everyone to have a chance at buying A PUPPY. Therefore, if you are looking to buy two puppies at one time, please buy one then get on the waitlist for the next litter to get a second puppy or find a different breeder. This policy will be in effect starting 08/16/2020.

Quality and Health Assurance of Puppies

Q: WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM EASTERN SHORE LAB BREEDERS?

A: We raised the puppies in our home, familiarizing them with sights and sounds, socializing them adequately, and training basic obedience (e.g. sit, come, no) to set them up to success in your home.

Q: CAN I MEET THE PARENTS?

A: Yes, all parents are on-premise.

Q: ARE THE PUPPIES HAVE UP-TO-DATE VACCINATIONS?

A: By 6 weeks old, the puppies will have been up to date on their shots and dewormed. The information will be in a booklet provided by our vet.

Q: WHEN CAN I TAKE THE PUPPIES HOME?

You will be able to take the puppies home when they are 8 weeks old. For the current litter, it will fall on 09/06/2020.

Q: WHAT FOOD ARE THE PUPPIES FED?

A: The puppies are fed Purina Puppy Chow.

Q: CAN YOU SHIP PUPPIES?

A: Due to the frequency of internet scams and basic safety concerns, the answer is no. Personally, when we first bought our dogs as puppies, the initial car rides were always a lovely bonding experience. Buying a puppy is a serious commitment; therefore, naturally, the buyer should come to take their puppy home.

Q: WHAT DO I NEED TO PREPARE FOR MY PICK-UP DATE?

A: The remainder of the cost will be due when you come to pick up your puppy. The only acceptable form of payment is cash so please make sure you drop by the bank to withdraw if necessary before coming to pick up the puppy.

A collar and a lease. On your way home with the new puppy, you may need to make several stops for your puppy to go potty. This is a great opportunity to walk him on the lease.

Q: ARE THE PUPPIES HOUSE TRAINED?

A: We do our best to lay a foundation for puppy in developing various skills. With that said, we have an entire litter to train and therefore cannot guarantee that your puppy will house broken. And we have no way of guaranteeing your house will be free of accidents.

The day you take your puppy home is an opportune time to teach them the appropriate place to potty is outside. Before bringing the puppy in the house, we suggest that you walk them on the lease and allow them to potty where you would want them to potty again in the future.

If you need training resources, you can check out Zak George’s YouTube channel. We are not sponsored. We simply have benefited over the years by Zak’s humane training.

Q: HOW HAVE THE PUPPIES BEEN SOCIALIZED?

A: During their eight weeks with us, the puppies will have had ample time to interact with us (family of four), each other, and their mother.

Q: CAN I CONTACT YOU AFTER TAKING THE PUPPY HOME?

A: Yes, we’d love to keep in touch with you. We raised our dams and sire since they were just puppies and have been through thick and thin. We know how tough it can be to raise a puppy. If you have any questions or concerns after taking the puppy home, we are here for you. If you just wanted to say “hi” and tell us how the puppies are doing, we’d love to hear about it too.
